Legionella thrive in temperatures between 20°C and 45°C and stagnant water. To inhibit growth, hot water heaters should be set at 60°C or higher. Mixing valves can then reduce temperatures to prevent scalding at taps and showers. Keeping cold water below 20°C with insulation also helps.

Regular flushing of infrequently used outlets and eliminating system dead ends are important to prevent stagnation. We recommend cleaning fixtures and tanks quarterly. Monitoring temperatures monthly at key locations will allow us to ensure your whole system remains outside Legionella’s comfort zone.
